LFSTYL Privacy Policy

LFS Merchant Services LLC, an Ohio limited liability company ("LFSTYL," "we," "us," or "our"), respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the LFSTYL mobile app and the lfstyl.app website (together, the "Service"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and a password (stored as a salted hash by our authentication provider, Supabase). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique identifier and the email address you choose to share.

Profile information you provide. During onboarding and ongoing use, you may provide:
- Name, age, sex, height, body weight, body fat percentage
- Fitness goals, activity level, training experience, sports, injuries
- Dietary restrictions, allergies, food preferences
- Workout schedule, equipment access, lifestyle details

Usage and content data. As you use the app, we store:
- Chat messages between you and your LFSTYL AI coach
- Food logs and water logs
- Body weight entries
- Workout plans, workout logs, activities, and exercise history
- Saved meals, recipes, grocery lists, and supplements you log
- Coaching memory (preferences, habits, and patterns saved to personalize coaching). It is deleted when you delete your account, and you can ask us to delete specific items at any time (see Your Rights).

Photos. Photos of food or nutrition labels you choose to share are sent to our AI service provider so it can read them. We do not store the photos on our servers.

Apple Health data (optional). If you choose to connect Apple Health, and only for the data types you approve in iOS, LFSTYL reads data such as steps, active and resting energy, sleep, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, VO2 max, blood oxygen, workouts, and body weight. This includes data from devices that sync to Apple Health, such as Apple Watch, WHOOP, or Oura. We use this data only to power your coaching, insights, and charts inside LFSTYL. We never use Apple Health data for advertising or marketing, never sell it, and never share it with data brokers or advertisers. You can turn off access at any time in the iOS Settings or Health app.

Microphone and speech. If you use talk-to-log or ask your coach by voice, LFSTYL uses your microphone and Apple's speech recognition to turn what you say into text. We store the resulting text as a chat message. We do not keep audio recordings.

Siri and Shortcuts. If you use Siri with LFSTYL, Siri passes your request to the app. Apple's handling of Siri requests is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

Camera and photos. LFSTYL accesses your camera or photo library only when you choose to take or pick a photo, scan a barcode, or scan a nutrition label.

Device and technical information. We collect basic technical information needed to operate the app, including device type, OS version, and crash reports (what went wrong and where in the code). We also count a small set of app events (app opened, food logged, workout logged, coach message sent, notification opened) to understand how the app is used. These counts never include what you ate, your health data, your messages, or your name or email. The app does not use third-party advertising or attribution SDKs. We also record how much of our AI service each account uses (counts of words processed and estimated cost, never the content of your messages) to manage costs and fair-use limits. Our hosting providers keep short-lived server logs that include IP addresses, device type, and request times for security and reliability; these are deleted automatically within 30 days.

The app does not collect: precise location, contacts, or data from other apps on your device (other than Apple Health data you choose to share).

Website and waitlist. When you join the waitlist on lfstyl.app, we collect your name and email address. Our website also uses Vercel Web Analytics (privacy-friendly, cookie-free page analytics) and Google Analytics, which uses cookies to measure visits and how people use the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:
- create and maintain your account;
- provide AI-powered coaching, food logging, nutrition lookups, workout planning, insights, and progress tracking;
- personalize the experience (for example, respecting your dietary restrictions and building plans around your equipment);
- send you transactional and product-related notifications and check-ins;
- send waitlist members updates about LFSTYL's launch (you can unsubscribe at any time);
- understand how our website is used so we can improve it;
- detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security issues;
- comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use your personal data to train third-party AI models.

3. Service Providers and Third Parties

We use the following service providers to operate LFSTYL. We share data with them only as needed to provide the Service:

We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of users, or as part of a merger or acquisition (in which case this Policy will continue to apply to your data).

4. Legal Basis (for users in the EU/UK)

Where required by law, we process your personal data on the following legal bases: (a) performance of a contract (to provide the Service you requested); (b) your consent (for optional features such as Apple Health, microphone, and marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time); (c) our legitimate interests (to keep the Service secure and improve it); and (d) compliance with legal obligations.

5. Data Retention

We retain app data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (Profile → Settings → Delete Account), we permanently delete your profile, chat history, food logs, workout data, Apple Health data, and coaching memory from our active databases. Backup copies are purged within 30 days. We may retain a minimal record of the deletion request and any data we are legally required to keep.

We keep waitlist entries until LFSTYL launches and for as long as you remain subscribed to updates. Email us to be removed at any time.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate data;
- delete your data (you can delete your account yourself in Settings → Delete Account);
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- export your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time;
- lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@lfstyl.app. We will respond within 30 days.

U.S. state privacy rights (including California). Residents of California and other states with consumer privacy laws have the right to know what personal information we collect, and to access, correct, and delete it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Some of the information you share (such as health and fitness data) may be considered sensitive personal information; we use it only to provide the Service you request.

7. Children's Privacy

LFSTYL is not intended for anyone under 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us at privacy@lfstyl.app.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest (provided by Supabase), row-level security policies that ensure each user can only access their own data, and server-side functions that keep API keys off your device and require a signed-in account. No system is perfectly secure. If you suspect a vulnerability or unauthorized access, contact security@lfstyl.app.

9. International Data Transfers

LFSTYL is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US and other countries where our service providers operate.

10. Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your LFSTYL account at any time:

  1. Open the app
  2. Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account
  3. Confirm

This immediately removes your account and deletes all associated data (profile, messages, food logs, workouts, body weight entries, Apple Health data, coaching memory, supplements, recipes, grocery lists, and onboarding responses) from our database.

If you cannot access the app, email privacy@lfstyl.app from the address on your account and we will delete it within 30 days.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy as the Service evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date above shows when this Policy was last revised.
